The Arctic is breaking

Touch Graphics Europe has participated in the exhibition "El Ártico se rompe" from the Obra Social "la Caixa" providing access resources for the blind and visually impaired people.

This itinerant exhibition has amazing photos of Andoni Canela, a prestigious nature photographer that has traveled throughout the Arctic. "El Ártico se rompe " shows the singularity of the ecosystem of the North pole, its physical characteristics, its biodiversity and its important role in the global climate. For this exhibit, Touch Graphics Europe has designed and produced a talking tactile book that provides visual, tactile and audio information to visitors with the use of a smart pen.

The exhibition is divided in four areas: The Arctic climate, where you can see the evolution of the climate through photographs, interactive features and fascinating shapes of ice crystals; Life in an extreme situation, which shows amazing examples of adaptation to extreme weather like the fur of the polar bear, arctic lichens, lyophilized carnivorous plants and animal footprints; The human life, where you can learn how more than 20 ethnic groups live around the Arctic Ocean, adapting to the modifications that global change is producing to the environment and struggling to retain their traditions; The Northern Lights, where you understand and enjoy the aurora borealis in a projection in a dome and you can also listen a Inuit legend to end the exhibit.

During a period of eight to ten years, Obra Social “la Caixa” will tour this exhibit to more than one hundred cities.
